Famine Awareness/Food Aid/Development

As there is massive famine and food crisis going on in the Horn African nation particularly Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia and others. It is worsening in the Ethiopia/S Sudan, especially South Sudan due to the long civil wars and conflicts that led to extremely poverty that resulted in hardship, devastation, struggle, famine, food crisis, malnourished and suffering.
It is even far worst in the what is known as Greater Upper Nile Regions are absolutely lacking basic services whether food access, food security, medical supplies, clinics, education, schooling, infrastructure, transportation, and economic instability.

Food insecurity:

People are vulnerable, lacking access to food security, especially in the refugee camps, displaced areas, displaced returning refugees and local communities who properties and homes are destroyed. This causes malnourished and malnutrition and unhealthiness because when a person doesn’t have three or even two meals on a daily basis, then the body become weak. When a body is weaker, that can cause illness.
The areas like Ethiopia/South Sudan border not only people have been experiencing worsened drought conditions over the last decade, but the major issues had been the civil wars that ravaged most parts of the country.
The civil wars and conflicts have created more suffering, which led to the lack of services, food insecurity, economic instability and lack of jobs. For example, there is over 90% unemployment because no jobs are available, resulting in most children and adults experiencing starvation and malnourishment, and lacking basic services which is leading to extreme poverty and food insecurity. These 95% of the people in the Ethiopia/South Sudan border, specifically southeastern region of South Sudan in the greater Upper Nile drink untreated and unsafe water, leading to disease, death, and severely limiting their capacity to work full and productive lives.

ASDF’s goal is to provide food supplies, awareness and resources that we believe will reduce hunger, starvation, malnourished, and food insecurity by supporting and providing supplies, resources and opportunities, as well as establishing and developing agricultural farming projects in which there will be food, services, food security and economic opportunities for vulnerable adolescents, adults, youths, families or local populations, which will be facilitated through conduct trainings, meetings/conferences, forums, or workshops, support local farmers, families and communities with resources, tools, skills, and opportunities they need to improve their quality of life.

We plan to do as following:

  • Provide food supplies and develop nutritional as well as acquire food development
  • Support agricultural farms and vegetable gardens
  • Implement systems or models that provide food and clean potable water
  • Assist in agricultural development to reduce hunger and provide for food security.
  • Provide resources for local farmers and empower the local people
  • Provide and support farm implemented such as tractors and mechanics (grind millet)
  • Adopt micro agricultural technology using innovative approach to irrigating crops, lasting variety of seeds and plants on the same agricultural plot to optimize agricultural outputs and land conservation.
